I am responsible for planning and directing a large-scale change

You’ll be responsible for the detail and delivery of a major change project. Most likely a senior manager, you’ll be working on behalf of a sponsor. You’ll be responsible for setting the direction of the change and making it happen. You’ll manage the project through all the phases of the BCF – either on your own or as part of a team — and you’ll always be looking for further improvement.

Top tips

Clarify the level of resource you need to support the project +-
  • The 3-minute assessment will help you quantify the size of your project by looking at the number of people affected and the level of impact on ways of working. It will allow you to decide whether and what additional resources you may need to complete the project successfully.
Ensure you understand the triggers for change +-
  • Do your triggers indicate the need for long-term change? Or are they a temporary blip? Get a clear answer to this question before you embark on major change.
Challenge the thinking around change planning +-
  • Learn from external sources of best practice and success.
  • Examine change projects from other industries; they may have relevance for your project.
Use the vision for change and other reference materials +-
  • The vision for change will help you with the why, what and how of the project.
  • Likewise, the communication and engagement materials will help you engage stakeholders in the right way, at the right time.
